The Bad Cat Café in Wallsend offers a quieter, more intimate take on the typical cat café experience. Set on High Street East, this spot doubles as both a relaxed café and a rescue shelter, creating a calm atmosphere where visitors can sip tea or coffee while spending time with rescue cats. The atmosphere is gentle and unhurried, making it ideal for anyone looking to unwind away from busier, more crowded venues.

Visitors often come here not just for a drink but to engage with the cats, who benefit from the calm environment and low visitor numbers that keep them active and playful. The café menu is simple, with offerings like soup and bread or traditional afternoon tea options, making it more about the experience than a large food selection.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Bad Cat Café & Rescue in Wallsend, and it was an unforgettable experience. This charming café offers a serene atmosphere where patrons can enjoy a delightful cup of tea or coffee while interacting with the resident rescue cats. The café serves a selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, and treats, all at reasonable prices. During my visit, I had the joy of meeting several of their adorable feline residents: Bright Eyes, Ciri, Cloud, Coco, Luna, Minnie, Nala, and Pecan. Each cat has its own unique personality, and it’s heartwarming to know that all of them are rescues looking for their forever homes. The café partners with rescues across Europe, taking in strays who have had some of the toughest starts in life. The staff, led by owners Tamsin and Roxy, are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. They’ve created a family-friendly environment, with walls adorned with cat-themed artwork contributed by young visitors. Children are encouraged to add their own masterpieces to the display, making it a truly interactive experience. For those considering adoption, the café provides a unique opportunity to spend quality time with the cats in a relaxed setting, ensuring a perfect match. Additionally, they offer cat-sitting services in the local area, demonstrating their commitment to feline welfare. Whether you’re looking to adopt or simply enjoy the company of some delightful cats, The Bad Cat Café & Rescue is a must-visit. I can’t wait for my next visit!

this place doubles as a rescue shelter for cats, which is amazing. They have little to no crowd at all so the cats are always active and playing with you. Really affordable price for the joy I got spending time with the cats.

Really nice cafe. The cats are so happy and well looked after - lovely staff and drinks. Would really recommend both for a day out & if you’re looking to adopt a cat.

My sister and I loved visiting this very special place, it feels much more in line with our moral values and love for cats, it's a quiet gentle space that's filled with love by those who run it and I will definitely be going back to show my support

I’ve had the most amazing experience adopting my two babies from the Bad Cat Cafe. We were supported throughout and continue to keep in touch and receive advice as needed. Tamzin and Roxy are incredible women who genuinely care for all of the cats and know what is best for them. They ensure that potential adopters know the cats personalities and all the history they have. I would adopt a dozen more if I could as the process of as fantastic and the support has continued to be amazing. I have recommended the cafe to so many people, if not for adoption, for a cuppa and emotional well being care.

After recently having to say goodbye to our furbaby, we decided to take a leap of faith and adopt a new cat. Having previously adopted an older cat, we decided we did not want a kitten (these are usually adopted fairly quickly anyway) and looked to the Bad Cat Cafe for adoption. We've visited their cafe and couldn't fault how they looked after the cats/kittens in their care. We came across Kizzie, a 5 yr old cat which needed a forever home, but she needed a family with time, understanding and, above all, patience! Exactly what we had. We were forewarned that whilst she would be great at the greet and meet, she would hiss, growl and charge once she came to our home, which we accepted and were fully prepared for. Roxy and Tasmin were fantastic, we filled out forms, had a meet and greet, followed by a home visit. They checked to make sure Kizzie would be well cared for and again, explained she needed time, patience and a loving home. Everything was explained, the procedure, adoption fee etc. Once we agreed we were taking in Kizzie, we brought her home. The Bad Cat Cafe were great, kept in touch, checked in with us regularly, ensured we were fully supported. They even dropped off extra treats for her, despite having already given us food and toys to bring home to ensure Kizzie was well looked after. We were given 5 weeks free insurance, and our details passed over to insurance company, who kindly contacted us. Kizzie was exactly how the ladies advised she would be. We've had her one full week now and we honestly couldn't be without her. She was everything they said she would be (hissing, growing, charging) but now, after about 5 days, she's playful, affectionate, purring and an absolute delight. Thank you so much Bad Cat Cafe for bringing Kizzie into our lives. My 19 yr old daughter Chloe, has literally made her, her furbaby and it has changed her life. If anyone is looking to adopt, please please let Roxy & Tasmin guide you, they are fantastic.

This is an amazing place to just sit and chill with the cats and if you’re looking for a cat to adopt this is the perfect place. By the way I’m 11 and and I loved every single cat but I mainly bonded with the little black kitten ⬛⬛ . He was called Hugo and he was only 10 weeks and was very jumpy !! Amazing place !! The lady who worked there was also very friendly and helpful and she clearly loved all the cats aswell !!
